With the emergence of Pickleball as America’s fastest growing sport, its not a surprise that variations of the sport are emerging. Many Pickleball enthusiasts on the coach have reason to be excited as Pickleball is starting to migrate its way to the sand. Sandy Pickleball, or better known as SandyPickle is becoming the beach version of Pickleball. You might be asking how can I play SandyPickle? And where can I find Sandy Pickleball Courts? If this is you, you’ve come to the right place.

What is Sandy Pickleball? 

Sandy pickleball, or better known as SandyPickle, is a game invented by Pickleball enthusiasts Steve Reeves & Brady Whittingham who were looking for a way to enjoy Pickleball in a beach or grassy park-like atmosphere. With some help of friends, they invented the game of Sandy Pickle which combines elements of Pickleball and Volleyball to create a fun game that Pickleball enthusiasts can play when there is no asphalt or hard concrete surfaces to play on.

Where is Sandy Pickle Played

Although the name might suggest that SandyPickle is only played in the sand, the sport can be played on both sand and grass. The equipment is easy to set up and catered towards a crowd that might be hanging at the beach, park or on someone’s back lawn.

Where can I find Sandy Pickleball Courts?

Sandy Pickleball courts can be set up in any free roaming space where there is grass or sand. Most beaches on the east coast will have plenty of space. West coast beaches in California and Oregon have a little less real estate, but if you find a spot here you’ll be playing SandyPickle in a spot more beautiful than most of us. 

Finding a spacious park is a great way to create your own SandyPickle court

If you aren’t by the beach, any park or yard with grass will do. Wherever you decide, you will have to make sure there is enough room to play. Luckily, you don’t need too much room to play SandyPickle.  As long as you have an area to play that measures 40 feet long by 20 feet wide, you’ll be good to set up the court. That is about the length of a schoolbus long, and a little more than the length of a Tesla wide. Here is a good video that shows you how.
